Anika noni rose is an American actress and performer. She's best known for portraying Tiana Disney's first African American character in The Princess and the Frog. Disney Legends named her as one in 2011. Rose is most well-known for her character Lorrell Robinson, the character from Dreamgirls. Anika noni rose is an American actor, singer and songwriter. Her most well-known role is her role as Tiana, the Princess and the Frog's 2009 African-American princess. She was recognized as a Disney Legend in 2011. The same year, she was recognized by her part on the screen in Dreamgirls (2006) that earned the Academy Award for Best Picture. In the Starz show Power she played the role of LaVerne Jukebox Ganner. Her other notable roles include her performances in theatre particularly for her starring roles as Emmie Thibodeaux and as Emmie in the Broadway production of Caroline or Change (2004) for which she won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and Beneatha Younger, who played A Raisin in the Sun, the Broadway adaptation of A Raisin in the Sun (2014) where she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play.
